Ferentz chose Hecklinski after he threw 3 touchdowns in a 41-24 win while Hank Brown returned fully healthy from a shoulder sprain.
On Tuesday, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz announced that Jeremy Hecklinski will start at quarterback against Minnesota on Saturday, despite listing both him and Hank Brown on the depth chart.
Hank Brown started the season's initial five games before an injury against Ohio State sidelined him, allowing Hecklinski to gain experience in limited action this season.
Brown leads the team with 832 yards passing and five touchdowns, while Hecklinski impressed in his last start against Washington, throwing for 202 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-24 victory.
Ferentz noted that both quarterbacks could see action Saturday, stating, "We'll just play it as it comes," while expressing confidence in both players' game experience.
Iowa kicks off against border rival Minnesota at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Minneapolis; both teams hold 2-1 Big Ten records, and the Hawkeyes have won 20 of the last 25 meetings.
