Investors on Wall Street were once again prepared to buy shares at mostly higher prices. They ignored the news that consumer confidence in the US had fallen to its lowest level in four years. The AEX closed slightly higher, partly thanks to the profit of heavyweight Shell. ASML, which also weighed heavily in the index, had a hard time.
