Look: 'Queen of the Damned' Will Be Next Chapter in AMC's 'Vampire' Series
AMC will adapt Anne Rice’s third Vampire Chronicles novel next, with showrunner Hannah Moscovitch and executive producers Mark Johnson and Rolin Jones returning.
- On Friday at San Diego Comic-Con, AMC announced the renewal of its anthology series for a fourth season, titled Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned, during the show's Hall H panel presentation.
- Executive producer Hannah Moscovitch will serve as the new showrunner, taking over leadership from Rolin Jones, who remains an executive producer. This season adapts Anne Rice's third novel, Queen of the Damned.
- At the panel, executive producers Mark Johnson and Moscovitch joined cast members Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Sheila Atim to discuss the season-three finale and upcoming production plans.
- The new season will focus heavily on the original vampire Akasha, portrayed by Sheila Atim, as established characters confront the powerful ancient vampire with their world hanging in the balance.
- Unlike the 2002 film adaptation which grossed $45M, the series has received critical acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes. AMC Global Media Chief Content Officer Dan McDermott stated the team looks forward to continuing this iconic journey.
