International Paper Continues Strategic Transformation with North America Packaging Network Optimization
International Paper announced strategic actions to optimize its North America packaging network and focus investments on high-value opportunities to better serve customers.
The company plans to cease preprint operations at its Richwood, KY facility and close plants in Aurora, IL; Elk Grove, CA; and Barrington, NJ by the end of the third quarter of 2026.
These decisions aim to strengthen International Paper's cost position, increase capacity, and provide high-quality sustainable packaging solutions.
International Paper will support impacted employees with outplacement assistance, severance, and benefits during this transition, according to Executive Vice President Tom Hamic.
International Paper plans to close three factories and close pre-print operations in another unit as part of its efforts to optimize its network and reduce costs. Exclusive material for subscribers. To have full access, access the material link and register.
