Intel Refreshes Non-Ultra Core CPUs with New Silicon for the First Time
Intel says the lineup will reach 70+ laptops and targets value buyers, businesses and schools with lower-cost chips and reduced graphics hardware.
- Intel today announced six new Core Series chips, codenamed Wildcat Lake-codenamed, built for value laptops and edge systems with advanced performance and AI-ready capabilities.
- Built on the same 18A process as the Core Ultra Series, these processors offer a budget-friendly alternative to the premium Panther Lake line, prioritizing affordability over raw power.
- The top-end option reaches 17 NPU TOPS with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thunderbolt 4 support; Intel estimates battery life at 18.5 hours streaming Netflix or 9.6 hours on Zoom calls.
- Confirmed devices include the Acer Aspire 14, 15, and 16, Asus Vivobook 14 and 15, and MSI Modern series, with Dell, Lenovo, and Samsung planning future releases.
- Josh Newman, general manager of Consumer PC at Intel's Client Computing Group, said the chips expand access to technology for "value buyers" as well as businesses and schools.
