A new study found that high school GPA and socioeconomic status are not as determinative as instructors in helping students pass introductory college math and earn degrees. A recent study has found that instructors and the teaching practices they use—or don’t—are more than twice as influential in predicting learning outcomes than students’ prior academic performance.
