Insatiable Tadej Pogačar claims another title in remarkable season for Slovenian rider
Tadej Pogacar secured the European title with a 75km solo ride, finishing 28 seconds ahead of silver medalist Remco Evenepoel and nearly four minutes ahead of bronze winner Paul Seixas.
- On October 5, 2025, Tadej Pogacar won the men's Elite Road Race at the UEC Road European Championships in Guilherand-Granges, securing the European champion's stars jersey for the first time.
- The race was billed as a three-way battle between Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard over a hilly 202km route through the Drome-Ardeche region.
- With 75km left Pogacar opened the decisive gap, quickly gaining 30 seconds over Evenepoel, Seixas, Scaroni and Ayuso, expanding it to over a minute inside the final quarter.
- The victory reinforced Pogacar's dominance this season, coming a week after his World Championships success and following his July Tour de France triumph, while Vingegaard abandoned after being dropped.
- Serge Pauwels warned that an attack far out would end badly, but Pogacar said `I saw I was losing teammates, it wasn't the plan to go from there, but it had to be there, it was the hardest hill and that was my advantage there` after the race.
