Injured Lungi Ngidi Ruled Out of Australia ODI Series, Nqobani Mokoena Called Up
South African pacer Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Australia following a right hamstring injury sustained during domestic play.
Ngidi suffered the injury during a domestic first-class season-opening match between Titans and Dolphins last week; scans on Wednesday confirmed he requires rehabilitation.
The Proteas named 20-year-old pacer Nqobani Mokoena as Ngidi's replacement after his first ODI cap during South Africa's tour of Namibia.
Joining Kagiso Rabada and Ottneil Baartman, Ngidi is the third seamer ruled out of the series while the team manages Rabada's separate hamstring injury.
Team management will assess Ngidi's availability for the three-Test series against Australia starting October 9 closer to the contest date.
