"Vaincu" by illness according to his council, the seven-year-old would be unable to remember his actions in the 70s and 80s for which he was sentenced to life, reports Ici Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on Thursday 30 July.
Bernard Ripert, the Grenobese lawyer for the terrorist Carlos – nicknamed "Le Chacal", by his real name Ilich Ramírez Sánchez – told our colleagues from Isère that he had requested the release of his client, now 77 years old and twice sentenced to life imprisonment in 1997 for a triple murder committed in 1975; and in 2011 – then on appeal in 2013 – for four attacks committed between 1982 and 1983.
The lawyer wrote to the president of the court for the enforcement of sentences in Paris, competent in matters of terrorism, so that a hearing could be fixed, reveals ICI Isère.
