Ines Cavalcanti, a key figure in Occitan culture in Italy and Europe, and a leading figure in the cultural, musical, and linguistic revival of the Occitan valleys of Piedmont, died at the age of 75 in Cuneo hospital where she was being treated for an incurable disease. Born in Elva, but historically from Roccabruna, Ines Cavalcanti was the woman who defended and developed the Occitanist movement locally and internationally.
