- On Wednesday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation constituted an eight-member special team to oversee IndiGo and ordered inspections at Nagpur, Jaipur, Bhopal, Surat, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Shirdi, Kochi, Lucknow, Amritsar and Dehradun, directing CEO Pieter Elbers to present data and appear on Thursday.
- IndiGo faced crew shortages after inadequate preparation for the second phase rollout on November 1, as the new flight duty time limitation rules demanded more pilot rest and better crew scheduling.
- DGCA officers will be based daily at IndiGo headquarters in Gurugram to monitor cancellations, refunds, compensation, on-time performance and submit daily reports since disruptions began last week.
- The DGCA issued show‑cause notices to CEO Pieter Elbers and COO Isidre Porqueras, and mandated a government‑scheduled 10 per cent cut, reducing domestic flights below 1,950.
- To stabilise operations, the DGCA granted a temporary exemption until February 10, despite over 1,600 cancellations on Friday and over 1,800 flights operated on Tuesday with OTP over 80%.
