India's Net Direct Tax Collections Rise 13% to Rs 12.1 Lakh Crore Till September 17 of FY27
On Friday, September 18, 2026, India's government reported that gross direct tax collections surged over 15% to Rs 14.32 lakh crore as of September 17, significantly outpacing the prior-year period.
Net direct tax collections rose 13% to Rs 12.12 lakh crore, driven by corporate tax mop-up growth of 19.48% to Rs 5.56 lakh crore and non-corporate collections from individuals and Hindu Undivided Families increasing 6% to Rs 6.16 lakh crore.
Securities Transactions Tax collections jumped 53% to Rs 40,214 crore between April 1 and September 17, while the Central Board of Direct Taxes reported refund issuance grew 29.19% to over Rs 2.20 lakh crore.
Advance Tax payments reached Rs 5.22 lakh crore, marking a 16.18% increase, with advance corporate tax payments growing 18% to over Rs 4.16 lakh crore and non-corporate payments rising 9.24% to Rs 1.06 lakh crore.
These figures encompass taxes paid by companies, individuals, Hindu Undivided Families, and associations of persons , reflecting broad participation from bodies of individuals and local authorities across the fiscal year.
