- Yesterday in the Lok Sabha, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri assured lawmakers that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene or LPG and that national fuel supply and inventories remain stable with sufficient demand coverage.
- Facing West Asia supply disruption, Puri noted that non-Hormuz sourcing has risen to approximately 70 per cent, offsetting shortfalls through alternative procurement measures.
- Protecting household supply, the government secured domestic LPG for 33 crore families, increased domestic LPG production by 28 per cent, and a committee from Indian Oil, HPCL and BPCL approved limited commercial cylinder release.
- Distribution safeguards include maintaining delivery cycles and warnings against hoarding, with domestic LPG booking-to-delivery time steady at 2.5 days and around 40,000 kilolitre additional kerosene allocated to states.
- Under a March 9 order, the government prioritised gas allocations, ensuring domestic gas production remains at 90 MMSCMD despite import cuts, with industrial consumers receiving up to 80 per cent and fertiliser plants up to 70 per cent.
