Agni-4 Ballistic Missile Successfully Test-Fired
The two-stage, solid-fuel missile, with a range of about 4,000 km, met all planned objectives, the Defence Ministry said.
- On Thursday, India successfully test-fired the Medium Range Ballistic Missile Agni-4 from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, under the Strategic Forces Command.
- The Agni-4 is a two-stage, surface-to-surface missile propelled by a solid-fuel rocket motor, capable of striking targets at a distance of around 4,000 kilometres.
- During the flight, tracking systems confirmed the missile performed as expected, completing required in-flight manoeuvres while tested for a user-defined minimum range of 60 kilometres.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated Defence Research & Development Organisation scientists and industry partners, praising efforts to strengthen India's indigenous defence technology programme.
- Earlier this year, India also conducted successful trials of the Agni-Prime and Agni-3 missiles, while DRDO recently tested its Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missile and Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket .
