FBI Conducts Multi-Agency Investigation Cracking Down on Trafficking
Authorities rescued 27 victims, including 10 minors, uncovering a trafficking ring exploiting migrants with fees up to $79,000 and laundering over $565,000 in Nebraska, officials said.
- On Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations raided Omaha sites, arresting five Indian nationals linked to alleged trafficking, law enforcement said.
- The investigation began, leading to searches at 16 locations, including four hotels and two residences, over four years, linking suspects to trafficking and fraud.
- During the raids, FBI and Homeland Security Investigations seized over 14 million dollars in cash, and four suspects were taken into custody, according to authorities.
- The unsealed indictment states suspects face charges of labor and sex trafficking, fraud, money laundering, visa misuse and harboring wanted criminals, involving hotels and Brow & Lash salons.
- Importantly, FBI Omaha Special Agent in Charge Eugene Kowel said, `This investigation revealed victims who were forced into sexual activity, living and working in dangerous and unsanitary conditions, and extorted to work in grueling jobs with little to no pay.
