Incoming $100 million facility looks to turn brine waste into water, expand El Paso’s water supply

Summary by Ground News
The Kay Bailey Hutchison desalination plant near El Paso International Airport has been converting brackish groundwater into potable freshwater. El Paso Water will send the waste to a facility next door that will treat the salty effluent, turn it into drinkable water and sell it back to El Paso. The project has no impact on El Paso taxpayers, beyond the property taxes the facility will pay if it starts operating.
