The inclusion of two data in the credentials to vote provoked a debate in the General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) regarding the scope – or limitations – possible when the citizen requests that the self-identification as an indigenous or Afro-Mexican person be added in the mica, and/or the gender identity (male, female or non-binary).
