The Senate on Wednesday rejected a draft of a new law on the rules for the employment of civil servants and also did not agree to the removal of the president's authority to appoint and dismiss heads of permanent missions to international organizations. Both proposals, promoted by the governing coalition of ANO, SPD and Motorists, will now be re-examined by the Chamber of Deputies.

The government coalition will probably push through the proposal anyway and override the veto. In that case, the Senate plans to appeal to the Constitutional Court. Senate President Miloš Vystrčil called the proposal unconstitutional.
The Senate on Wednesday rejected a draft of a new law on civil servants, which is intended to facilitate the replacement of civil servants and bring the rules of their employment closer to the Labor Code. Opponents from among the senators, like the parliamentary opposition, expressed concerns about the politicization and destabilization of the state administration. 52 of the 70 members of the upper chamber voted in favor of rejection.
