Damascus - Syrian authorities in the western province of Latakia have banned female public sector employees from wearing make-up at work. The decision has sparked outrage and many Syrians have expressed concerns about restricting personal freedoms. Authorities responded by saying the aim was not to restrict anyone but rather to "regulate professional appearance and prevent excessive use of cosmetics," according to AFP.
