In France, the number of children desired has been declining steadily for the last twenty years, as pointed out in a study by the Ined published on Wednesday 9 July. For "Libé", five parents explain their choice of having only one.
A study by the Institut national d'études démographiques published this Wednesday, July 9 shows that the desire for children has fallen sharply in France. Interview with one of its authors, Laurent Toulemon.
According to a study published by INED on Wednesday, the ideal number of children has increased from 2.7 to 2.3, on average, in 25 years. A significant decrease and particularly marked among young people.
In France, the desire to have children has weakened in the new generations, resulting in a significant drop in fertility over the past 20 years.
