Heat Advisory Issued for Most of Central Florida Before Afternoon Storms Move In
Dangerous heat and high humidity push feels-like temperatures to around 110 degrees as morning rain gives way to more afternoon storms.
WESH 2 issued a heat advisory for Orange, Seminole, Lake, Volusia, and Brevard Counties until 8 p.m. today as dangerous heat and humidity push heat indices toward 110 degrees.
Afternoon heat index values are expected to reach between 103 and 108 degrees across Central Florida, creating potentially hazardous conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop after 2 p.m., with rain chances ranging from 30% to 50% and the highest coverage south of Orlando and Interstate 4.
First Warning Weather advises residents to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks to avoid heat-related illness while spending extended time outdoors during the advisory period.
Temperatures will reach the lower 90s on Wednesday, but lower humidity will make conditions feel noticeably more comfortable by afternoon, offering relief from today's oppressive heat.
