REAL-ID only supercenter to accept walk-ins in downtown Chicago

  • The Illinois Secretary of State's Office will open a walk-in Real ID supercenter in downtown Chicago on March 12, located at 191 N. Clark Street, to manage increasing demand for Real IDs.
  • Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced that the supercenter will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. To 5 p.m.
  • The demand for Real IDs surged as 860,000 people sought appointments in the first 24 days of February, ahead of the May 7, 2025 deadline.
  • Real IDs will be required for domestic flights starting May 7, 2025, and Giannoulias encourages residents to determine if they truly need a Real ID before seeking an appointment.
