The Civil Guard has seized 51 illegal nets in external waters, as well as a fishing net of about one kilometre in length in the inland waters of the bay linking the Cantabrian towns of Santoña with Laredo.
The Civil Guard has seized 51 illegal nets in external waters, as well as a fishing net of about one kilometer in length in the inland waters of the bay that connects Santoña with Laredo.The finding was carried out, on 25 and 26 August, by civilian guards of the Provincial Maritime Services of Biscay and Cantabria within a joint device in waters of the bay of Santoña with the aim of detecting and removing illegal weights.
The Civil Guard, which warns “of serious damage to the marine ecosystem of the area”, recalls that these practices carry a penalty of up to 100,000 euros
