On Monday, the Lithuanian state energy company Ignitis (part of the Ignatis grupe) signed a contract with one of the largest gas producers in the United States EQT Corporation for 2027-2036 and reported to the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy.
Ignitis, a secondary supplier of electricity and natural gas to state-owned energy group Ignitis, and EQT Corporation, one of the largest US natural gas producers, will sign a ten-year agreement on the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Lithuania in New York on Monday.
Lithuania signed a contract with the United States to purchase gas for 10 years, reports the Lithuanian news portal Obzor.lt with reference to the Department of Energy.
Lithuania has concluded a 10-year contract for natural gas supplies from the United States, which will be supplied to the Republic from 2027 to 2036, as reported by the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania.
"This is a concrete step to reduce our vulnerability in this field: In the event of an unexpected increase in gas in the European market, less dependence will help to mitigate the impact on Lithuanian consumers," is quoted in the statement by the Minister of Energy, Lucas Savitzkas.
