Ice Cream Vendor Suffered ‘Catastrophic’ Injuries in Attack, Court Told
Zaher Zaarour, 26, faces murder and possession of a blade charges after stabbing ice cream vendor Shazad Khan multiple times during a violent attack, police said.
- On Tuesday August 19 at about 6pm, ice cream vendor Shazad Khan, 41, was attacked from behind and fatally stabbed in Monks Park, Wembley, dying at the scene from catastrophic injuries.
- Prosecutor Jacob Hallam KC told the court that Mr Khan went to his van, turned his back, started removing his apron, then was approached again and exchanged words with Zaher Zaarour, with CCTV capturing the initial stabbing.
- In court Mr Hallam said, `The defendant pulled out a large knife, about 16cm in length and 3cm wide, which he had down his trousers` and stabbed Mr Khan's right chest, causing catastrophic injuries.
- At the Old Bailey Zaher Zaarour, 26, of North Circular Road, Brent, was remanded into custody after being charged with murder and possession of a blade, with a plea hearing set for November 12 and a trial scheduled from April 7 next year.
- Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller thanked local people for their help, highlighting the community's support during the investigation into the attack.
