Flood Relief Row: IAS Officer Files Complaint Against Odisha BJP MLA, Seeks Police Protection
Samir Kumar Jena alleged Saroj Padhi abused him and threatened to kill him during a dispute over flood relief materials, with the complaint under police review.
- On Thursday, Samir Kumar Jena filed a police complaint against Asika BJP MLA Saroj Padhi, alleging the legislator threatened and abused him over flood relief distribution on Tuesday.
- According to the complaint, Padhi entered Jena's chamber Tuesday, shouting over relief materials and using unparliamentary language while threatening his life, with the incident purportedly captured on CCTV.
- Housing and Urban Development Department transferred Asika Municipality Rajesh Kumar Mohapatra following the incident, while Ganjam SP Harisha said the complaint is being verified.
- Padhi dismissed the allegations as misunderstandings, telling reporters in Bhubaneswar the matter is "Resolved." He claimed mutual discussion had already settled the dispute.
- Earlier in September, a separate Ganjam controversy involved allegations that Padhi's supporters misbehaved with a sarpanch, marking a recurring pattern for the MLA in Odisha.
