IAEA Approves Chashma Safeguards Deal

The IAEA safeguards agreement covers a 1,200 MW reactor set to start by 2030, with nuclear power providing 18.3% of Pakistan's electricity mix, officials said.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board of governors unanimously approved the agreement for the application of safeguards at Unit 5 of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant (C-5), Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Tuesday.
