Google Photos Will Let You Try on Clothes You Already Have in the Wardrobe, or Just Screenshotted

The feature will build a digital closet from users’ photos and let them mix outfits, share looks, and virtually try them on.

  • Taking inspiration from the iconic virtual closet in the movie Clueless, the feature aims to help users manage their clothing and eliminate "nothing to wear" mornings, evenings, vacations, and special occasions.
  • The tool identifies items like Tops, Bottoms, Jewelry, and more to create a catalog, allowing users to mix and match pieces or virtually try on new looks in around 30 to 45 seconds.
  • Launching later this summer, the feature will first arrive on Android devices before expanding to iOS, where it will appear under the Collections tab.
  • Reflecting Google's strategy of baking AI assistants directly into services, the feature competes with existing apps like Acloset and Combyne rather than operating as a standalone tool.
