Trial of Ex-Minister Dati in Renault Corruption Case Kicks Off Despite Absence of Co-Defendant Ghosn
Former French justice and culture minister Rachida Dati is being voted over the €900,000 she received between 2010 and 2012 from Renault-Nissan, then led by Carlos Ghosn. The French-Lebanese businessman will be sorted in absentia.
Rachida Dati, who was tried before the Paris Correctional Court for corruption and trafficking in influence for the benefit of the Renault-Nissan car group when she was a member of the European Parliament, maintained that she had acted as a lawyer and not as a lobbyist.
On Thursday late in the afternoon, the mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris began answering questions from the court, focusing on the contract she signed with Renault's subsidiary, as a lawyer, which is at the heart of the accusations of corruption.
