Northants Boost Squad with Signing of Yorkshire Batter Finlay Bean on Three-Year Contract
The 24-year-old left-hander left Headingley for regular first-team cricket and has scored more than 3,000 runs in first-class and List A matches.
On Tuesday, Northamptonshire announced the signing of wicketkeeper-batter Finlay Bean from Yorkshire on a three-year deal, keeping him at the cinch County Ground until at least the end of 2029.
Bean opted to leave his boyhood club in search of regular first-team cricket after losing his place in Yorkshire's County Championship side to Will Luxton, who became Adam Lyth's opening partner.
The Harrogate-born batter scored 2,649 first-class runs including a record-breaking 441 in 2022 for Yorkshire's second XI, while providing Northants with essential wicketkeeping cover.
Northamptonshire head coach Darren Lehmann said Bean had been on the club's "radar for a while," stating he is "really pleased to secure him on a long-term deal."
Yorkshire general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton wished the player "every success," confirming the club is now seeking wicketkeeping back-up, potentially by recruiting an overseas batsman.
