'I Am Not Avoiding Them': Killer Cop's Call to Police
Prosecutors say the former police officer acted out of jealousy, while the defence says the deaths followed a struggle and were not intentional.
On Wednesday, a witness testified that she drank champagne while former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon cleaned a rental van outside her home three days after the alleged murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.
Prosecutors allege Lamarre-Condon killed Baird and Davies on February 19, 2024, in a jealous, premeditated attack; the 31-year-old claims he acted in self-defense after entering the Paddington home to retrieve belongings.
Rosso told the jury Lamarre-Condon spoke of an "out-of-body experience" during the visit, and his mother Coleen Lamarre texted him the code word "hot chocolate" to warn that police had searched her home.
In a handwritten statement released by the NSW Supreme Court on Wednesday, Lamarre-Condon alleged that his friend Elizabeth Kennedy urged him not to surrender and helped dispose of the bodies.
Prosecutors rejected Lamarre-Condon's offer to plead guilty to manslaughter as the jury examines photographs of cuts on his hands found after the couple's deaths.
