Hyroad Energy Acquires Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trucks to Accelerate Deployment of Zero-Emission Commercial Fleets

TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS, AUG 8 – Hyroad Energy expands fleet and infrastructure with 113 hydrogen trucks and assets from Nikola to support and grow the U.S. hydrogen-fueled truck market, CEO said.

  • On Aug. 8, 2025, Hyroad Energy announced its acquisition of physical assets and IP from Nikola Corporation’s bankruptcy auction for $3.85 million, agreed on July 31.
  • After agreeing July 31, Hyroad secured court approval on Aug. 6, with Judge Thomas Horan, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, calling it the only 'actionable offer'.
  • Including 103 hydrogen fuel cell electric tractors and 10 loaner and demonstration FCEVs valued at a combined $51.74 million, Hyroad's asset sale also included raw material, subassembly and finished goods valued in excess of $114 million and Hyla mobile assets valued at more than $14 million.
  • Hyroad will deploy the trucks primarily in California, supporting Nikola trucks and developing hydrogen refueling infrastructure, as part of its efforts to expand zero-emission commercial fleets.
  • Set to go online in 2025, the 'zero-loss' liquid hydrogen refueling station in Dallas will expand Hyroad’s infrastructure and support the US hydrogen truck market, said Dmitry Serov.
