Husker Softball Defeats South Dakota in Lincoln Regional
Top-Seeded Nebraska defeated South Dakota 4-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Lincoln Regional on Friday, May 15, at a sold-out Bowlin Stadium.
South Dakota took an early 1-0 lead after center fielder Autumn Iversen hit a solo home run off Nebraska starter Alexis Jensen in the fourth inning.
Nebraska rallied in the fifth inning with Hannah Coor's RBI triple and Hannah Camenzind's double to take a 2-1 lead, then Kacie Hoffmann added a two-RBI double in the sixth.
The Cornhuskers advance to face Grand Canyon on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET in the winner's bracket, while South Dakota meets Louisville in an elimination game Saturday afternoon.
Hosting an NCAA regional for the first time since 2013, Nebraska aims to extend its 21-game win streak, the longest active streak in the country.
