- General Manager Eric Tulsky said, "Pyotr is an incredibly talented goalie whose aggressive style fits our team very well." The deal pays $2.4 million salary plus $1.5 million signing bonus for 2027-28, then $3 million plus $1 million for 2028-29.
- Kochetkov will now form a tandem with Brandon Bussi, who won 31 regular-season games last year and posted a shutout in Game 6 against Vegas to clinch the championship.
- The reigning Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes open the 2026-27 season against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, Sept. 29, before facing the Washington Capitals on Oct. 2.
