Hurricane Trudy approaches Mexico coast as Typhoon Champi threatens Guam
On Saturday, Category 1 Hurricane Trudy moved toward Mexico's western coast with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. Forecasters expect the storm to approach southwestern and west-central Mexico before passing near the coast overnight into Sunday.
A hurricane warning remains in effect from Manzanillo in Colima to Cabo Corrientes in Jalisco as the storm tracks northwest at about 8 mph. The NHC expects hurricane conditions to spread across the region throughout the day.
Trudy is forecast to bring 10 to 20 cm of rain across Michoacan, Colima, and Jalisco, with isolated totals reaching 38 cm. These amounts raise the risk of life-threatening flooding and landslides in steep terrain.
The Mexican navy advised mariners and coastal residents to exercise extreme caution regarding high waves and potential storm surge. Onshore winds could trigger coastal flooding in areas near Acapulco and throughout Guerrero.
Strengthening into a Category 4 storm, Typhoon Champi moves west toward Guam at 11 mph. Authorities issued a typhoon warning for Guam and Rota, with tropical storm alerts for Tinian and Saipan.
'Trudy' maintained the warning for torrential rains in Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán, while authorities called for extreme precautions against possible floods and landslides.
Today Sunday, October 18th, there will be a fall because the cold front 2 and hurricane "Trudy" are going to cause extraordinary rains, a "North" event and frosts in some states of the country.
