Alex Eala: I Will Continue to Represent the Philippines in Best Way I Can
On Monday, July 13, 2026, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. hosted Alex Eala at Malacañang Palace, conferring the Presidential Citation recognizing her historic achievements as the first Filipino woman to attain international professional tennis success.
Eala achieved these milestones during a breakout Wimbledon campaign, becoming the first Filipina seeded player in Grand Slam history and reaching the Round-of-16 after defeating reigning champion Iga Swiatek.
"I feel like all the hardwork that I have done is seen," Eala told the President during the homecoming reception, accompanied by her parents Mike and Rizza Eala.
Following her arrival on Sunday, Eala began a short promotional tour in Manila, hosting three fan meet events this week starting with Nike, followed by BPI and Globe.
Eala will soon travel to North America for the Cincinnati Open and National Bank Open to prepare for the season's final Grand Slam, the US Open, held in Flushing Meadows, New York, starting August 30.
