Hullo Ferry Service Gets New GM and Acting CEO
Marco Ahrens will oversee day-to-day operations and keep Hullo’s customer commitments and strategic plans moving forward, the company said.
Hullo Ferries announced Marco Ahrens has joined as general manager and acting CEO, overseeing the foot passenger ferry service between Nanaimo and Vancouver.
Dermody's time as Hullo CEO has concluded, ending a tenure that began in May 2025 with focus on marine operations and business development.
Ahrens brings extensive industry experience, including 13 years as president of Canship Ugland and prior service as senior vice-president at Oceanex, a freight transportation company.
Hullo has operated for three years, ferrying 500,000 passengers in the last year as the company maintains service reliability and customer commitments under new leadership.
Ahrens stated his focus is on "ensuring Hullo" operational priorities continue forward, expressing confidence in the team's ability to help the company grow.
