Hull City Team Coach Damaged Ahead of Wembley Final, Say Police
The bus remained usable after a window was smashed, as Hull City prepared for a play-off final with Premier League promotion worth at least £200 million.
On Saturday, Hull City's team bus sustained a smashed window after stones and bottles were allegedly thrown at it while traveling to collect players for the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
Southampton were expelled from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after admitting "multiple breaches" of EFL regulations involving unauthorised filming of opponents' training sessions, prompting the EFL to reinstate Middlesbrough to the final.
Hull City owner Ilicali told the BBC, "Our legal team says that we have to go for action," while an EFL investigation found Southampton guilty of a "deplorable" act of spying on Middlesbrough ahead of their semi-final.
Despite the damage, players arrived safely at Wembley Stadium without incident, though the Metropolitan Police stated it remains "unclear at this stage" exactly how the window was broken.
Premier League status and guaranteed riches of at least £200 million await the winner at Wembley as Hull City and Middlesbrough contest the final today following a week of unprecedented turmoil.
