Polzin: Wisconsin Volleyball Talking Points From NCAA Semifinal Loss to Kentucky
Kentucky Wildcats won the semifinal with a 29-kill performance from Eva Hudson, ending a 26-match win streak and advancing to face Texas A&M in the national championship.
On Thursday, top-seeded Kentucky volleyball defeated third-seeded University of Wisconsin volleyball in a five-set NCAA semifinal at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, advancing to the national championship against Texas A&M.
After a lopsided first set, the match flipped as Wisconsin volleyball dominated set one hitting.682 to Kentucky volleyball's.056, but Kentucky responded with a 25-22 second-set win and forced a fifth after taking set four 26-24.
Eva Hudson paced Kentucky with 29 kills and delivered the match-clinching point, Brooklyn DeLeye added 15 kills and five blocks, while Kassie O'Brien orchestrated the offense with 54 assists.
With the loss, Wisconsin's winning streak ends at 13, while Kentucky volleyball reached the national championship for just the second time after a 26-match win streak.
Program history shows that Kentucky has 27 NCAA Tournament appearances and two Final Fours, with Eva Hudson named SEC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, and Brooklyn DeLeye as Regional Most Outstanding Player.
