Household Cavalry Soldier Who Plotted to Rape Baby Jailed for 12 Years
The judge said Jarvis believed the children were real and intended to rape them, after he arranged the plot with an undercover police officer.
On Thursday, Household Cavalry soldier Graham Jarvis was sentenced to 12 years in prison at Southwark Crown Court for plotting to rape a seven-year-old girl and a 10-month-old baby.
In mid-January 2024, Jarvis began communicating with an undercover police officer posing as a mother, planning to travel from his London barracks to Wales to sexually abuse her children.
Judge Adam Hiddleston characterized Jarvis's messages as "cold and clinical," saying the soldier treated the children as "objects to satisfy your urges" rather than real individuals.
Deciding Jarvis poses an ongoing danger to children, the judge ordered him to serve at least eight years in custody, with an additional two years on license.
Defense counsel Lisa Wilson stated Jarvis was at a "low ebb" during a "traumatic period" when he committed the offenses; he has since completed an animal psychology degree.
