Horse Dies from Training Injury at Los Alamitos
A 3-year-old filly who had yet to run a race died Thursday from a training injury at Los Alamitos Race Course, state horse racing officials reported. Pretty Wicked had no official races or workouts listed on the industry website Equibase. Her death was listed as “musculoskeletal” on the California Horse Racing Board website. She is the seventh horse to die from a racing or training injury at the Cypress track this year.

Hastings Racecourse, which opens its 45-date meet Saturday, occupies an idyllic plot of land near Vancouver's Burrard Inlet. It's a nice place to spend some time, grab a beverage, and lay a few loonies on the line.
