Hope Secondary School officially receives new name

The change follows three years of consultation and student advocacy to add Halq'eméylem language and reflect local Indigenous history.

Hope Secondary School has officially updated its name to reflect the community’s Indigenous connections. Starting with the 2026-27 school calendar year this September, the school will be known as Shxwelis te Ts’qó:Is — Spirit of Hope Secondary School.
