Honda Is Selling More of GM’s Electric SUVs Than General Motors
UNITED STATES, JUL 7 – Honda shifts focus to hybrids after canceling a large electric SUV due to high costs and lower demand, aiming for 2.2 million hybrid sales by 2030, company reports show.
- Honda sells more Prologue electric SUVs in the US in 2025 than General Motors sells its own Blazer EVs.
- Honda is scaling back its electric vehicle funding through 2030, reducing the amount from approximately $68.7 billion to about $48.1 billion, due to anticipated weaker demand in the U.S. and changing policies.
- Honda has abandoned its intention to introduce a sizable three-row electric SUV in response to changes in the U.S. market, following a similar move by Ford last year.
- So far in 2025, Honda dealers sold over 16,000 Prologues averaging more than 15 per dealership, while Chevy dealerships sold fewer than 4.5 Blazer EVs each.
- Honda is reallocating EV funds toward hybrids and plans to launch 13 new hybrid models starting in 2027 to better match US market demand.
