Hochul holds 11-point lead over Blakeman, Marist poll finds
On Wednesday, Governor Kathy Hochul widened her lead over Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman to 54-40% among likely New York voters, according to a new Siena Poll released today.
For the first time in her five years as governor, a majority of voters view Hochul favorably at 51%, while Blakeman faces headwinds from President Donald Trump's statewide unpopularity, with 61% viewing him unfavorably.
A separate Marist Poll confirms Hochul's advantage at 53-42% against Blakeman. Democratic incumbents Attorney General Letitia James and State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli lead their races by 54-39% and 59-32%, respectively.
Hochul's campaign aired three attack ads accusing Blakeman of backing Medicaid cuts, while he has criticized congestion pricing. By 48-28%, voters say Trump's endorsement of Blakeman has been a negative for the campaign.
Voters overwhelmingly expect Hochul to win reelection, with 68% predicting victory compared to 23% for Blakeman. Yet 49% say the state is headed in the wrong direction, suggesting broader dissatisfaction despite Hochul's lead.
