The Sept. 18, 1908, “Transcript” stated that during the week W.L. Booton had renovated the Niven building into a “racket store” and was expecting his large order of goods to arrive the next week. [Racket stores offered dry goods, groceries, hardware, ladies’ and men’s clothing, pots, pans, tableware and washtubs at low prices.] The store opened on September 26. E.P.
