Historic New River Gorge bridge to former Fayette coal towns receives new decking
In February 2026, a historic structure in Fayetteville, West Virginia, the Tunney Hunsaker Bridge, also known as the Fayette Station Bridge, had a new deck replaced by a specialized state Division of Highways crew. The Tunney Hunsaker Bridge was the first bridge to cross the New River when it opened in 1889.
