In Bully-les-Mines, a 26-year-old man was spotted not for his driving or for a dangerous manoeuvre, but for an anomaly on his license plate. On his mineralogic number, a letter immediately jumped in the eyes of the police: a clear "O", where this letter should simply never appear on a recent French plate. What the agents saw instantly, many motorists still ignore: some letters are simply banned from the Vehicle Immatriculation System (SIV).
