- With no Republican backing, advancing a DHS bill requires 60 Senate votes and potential Democratic defections, as progressive Democrats push a showdown while others resist before the Jan. 30 funding deadline.
- With much ICE funding routed through President Trump’s major domestic agenda last year, a GOP bill would authorize $170 billion for border security and ICE, while the Senate proposes $66 billion, causing procedural conflicts.
