Highway 1 closed at R.W. Bruhn Bridge in Sicamous due to police incident
RCMP arrested an out-of-province driver after a road rage call led to a pursuit and bridge closure, police said.
The Bruhn Bridge in Sicamous closed to traffic on the morning of Aug. 28 after a multi-jurisdictional police pursuit ended on the span.
At 8:09 a.m., Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a reported road rage incident where a male was striking a female's vehicle; officers located a red Honda headed eastbound on Highway 1.
Officers disabled the suspect's vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway after the driver attempted a U-turn, halting the pursuit before it reached the bridge.
Highway 1 remained closed to traffic for half the day while investigators conducted a collision reconstruction at the bridge site.
The out-of-province suspect was taken into custody without injuries to officers or bystanders and is being held on "numerous charges" awaiting a court date.
