Kade Anderson Introduced to Seattle: ‘They Picked a Winner’
KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, JUL 23 – Anderson will focus on conditioning and strength at Mariners' Peoria complex after a record-setting college season with 180 strikeouts over 119 innings, delaying pitching until 2026.
Kade Anderson spoke to the Seattle media for the first time on July 22 following his selection as the Mariners' third overall pick this year.
Anderson, previously at LSU, topped all Division I pitchers by striking out 180 batters over 119 innings and concluded the season by pitching a shutout in the College World Series.
During the press conference, Anderson expressed excitement to learn the area, joked about a volcano, and said his job now is to develop and work on his craft.
Area scout Derek Miller highlighted Anderson's strong character, his capability to pitch with four different offerings, and his effectiveness in following a strategic game plan. Anderson expressed his gratitude to the Mariners and noted that having command over all four pitches greatly simplifies his role on the mound.
The Mariners declared Anderson will not pitch competitively this season, and he will focus on the weight room, signaling a development-first approach for the polished prospect.
